My friend Valdis Krebs made a good point to me recently as well. He said that math education is too focused on engineering math (i.e. calculus) where there should be more emphasis on pattern recognition (i.e. set theory, graph theory, etc).

]]>One question I have is if we are preparing our children for this world. We need to excite them about the subject in order for them to become math natives. Not sure the systems in place are making that happen.
